After exploring the upper levels, your guided tour descends further into the 8,000-year-old cavern. You will reach exactly 35 meters (114 feet) below the surface.

Temperatures hover near freezing, and the floor becomes notably rougher. Your provided helmet and flashlight remain mandatory as you navigate this rugged section.

This second set of metal stairs leads from the upper tunnel down through a vertical siphon. It brings you to the lowest accessible level of the cave. Take your time descending. The floor at the bottom is noticeably uneven and rocky.

The Deepest Point

10 minutesUneven footing

This is the lowest section of your guided tour, sitting 35 meters (114 feet) below ground level. The lava rock here is sharp and fragile. Watch your footing closely. Do not touch the delicate rock formations.

The Pitch Black Zone

5 minutesFlashlights off

Guides typically stop here and ask everyone to turn off their flashlights. This creates a moment of absolute, zero-light darkness. Embrace the pitch-black silence and total sensory deprivation. It is a rare experience you cannot replicate above ground.
